Liver shear-wave elastography report template
A structured liver shear-wave elastography report template used for ultrasound shear-wave elastography (system-specific). It covers 5 sections and 18 fields.
Demonstration content. Review and approve this template with your clinical lead before clinical use. Reference values shown in SonoTez are notes only and are never applied automatically.
Technique
Shear-wave elastography of the right hepatic lobe through an intercostal approach, with measurements during a breath-hold in neutral respiration, at least 1.5–2 cm below the liver capsule.
What to include: sections and measurements
System and acquisition
- Ultrasound system / software
- Method: point shear-wave (pswe) · 2d shear-wave (2d-swe)
- Units reported: kpa · m/s
- Fasting ≥ 4 hours: yes · no
- ROI depth below capsule (cm)
Results
- Valid measurements
- Median stiffness (kPa)
- Median shear-wave speed (m/s)
- IQR / median (%)
- Reliability (doctor-assessed): reliable · unreliable (iqr/m above limit or too few measurements)
- Interpretation (doctor-assessed): high probability of normal liver · compensated advanced chronic liver disease ruled out · suggestive of cacld; further testing may be needed · highly suggestive of cacld · suggestive of clinically significant portal hypertension
- Known liver disease aetiology
Liver (B-mode)
- Surface: smooth · nodular
- Echotexture: homogeneous · coarse · increased echogenicity
- Spleen length (cm)
- Ascites: none · present
Confounders
- Possible confounders: raised transaminases / acute hepatitis · biliary obstruction / cholestasis · hepatic congestion · recent food intake · infiltrative disease
Other findings
- Other findings
Writing the impression
Answer the clinical question first, list the remaining findings in order of importance, and keep anything new out of the impression. If a structure was not fully seen, say so and give the reason. See how to write an ultrasound report for wording and certainty terms.
